For the second year in a row, the Sioux Falls School District is proud to be called one of the Best Communities for Music Education by the National Association for Music Merchants Foundation. This recognition is a testament to the dedication of our teachers, the commitment of our students, and to the close ties that have grown together over the years in our music education community. As we celebrate this recognition, let us also celebrate the power of music to inspire, educate, and unite us all.

Wow! SFSD is so grateful to the Sioux Falls STORM, LEVO, and media partners KELOLand TV for supporting Operation Hope & Caring where $18,417 was raised to support elementary schools that don't have PTAs/PTOs. We had a great time at the game and especially enjoyed the WIN! ❤️

The Digital Music class welcomed Tony DePaolo in to talk about being involved in the world of music. Tony talked about the process of creating a band and the music behind it. In addition, he discussed the successes and the challenges musicians may encounter. We appreciate his time and encouragement ! @tonydepaolomusic

Career Exploration students went to a senior community and helped residents with their technology questions and played games with those on the memory unit! They had a blast!

The Weather Service indicates the greatest threat of severe weather did not materialize in Sioux Falls. We will begin our bus routes at approximately 3pm, so there will be a slight delay in getting elementary and middle school students home. High School dismisses at normal time.

Due to the weather 4-30-24, SFSD will hold all elementary students who walk or ride the bus until the system passes. We expect the system to arrive about 2:45pm and be done around 3pm. Busses will not leave the elementary schools until it is safe to do so. This will also cause a delay in middle school bus routes, so plan accordingly. If wx is still an issue at high school dismissal time, we will encourage students to wait to leave until the system passes. Thank you.

Weather may cause some challenges at school dismissal time today. SFSD will make plans with your child's safety as our highest priority. If there are changes, parents/guardians will be contacted immediately. We ask that you please monitor your phone and email closely.

Football & Star Wars Fans Unite! Fri, May 3-7:05pm Sioux Falls STORM take on the Green Bay Blizzard to support Operation Hope & Caring, a fundraiser for SFSD elementary schools without PTAs. Wear Star Wars gear, grab a light saber, and get in on the fun!

Creative Writing students in Mrs. Mushaney's class had to select a piece of artwork that was hung in the main CTE hallway and write a reflection about that piece of art. They had to either describe the work in detail or write a short story that it inspired. The pieces of art were photos that represented each of the departments the CTE Academy houses. Great work students!

Horticulture kids making boutonnières! A little late for prom season but now they know the hard work florists go through for a boutonnière and corsage set!

Jillian French is on her way to graduating from O’Gorman High School. However, she decided to enroll in Introduction to Audio/Visual and Digital Animation at the CTE Academy. We've discovered a remarkably talented young lady who takes immense pride in her work. Jillian intends to leverage her CTE experiences to continue creating videos and art purely for enjoyment. Her teacher, Mr. Hoffman, notes that Jillian frequently dedicates extra time to refining her animations outside of class assignments, demonstrating a commitment to honing her skills. Mr. Hoffman added, “Jill possesses talent, a commendable work ethic, and a very bright future ahead.”

It was a big morning at the CTE Academy as Dakota State University held their 'signing day'! Seniors graduating this spring sat down to formally commit to attending DSU to study cyber security and other computer science majors there next year. Good luck future Trojans! “I love learning about the intricate details of computers, servers and networks.” Those are the words of a talented junior from Brandon Valley High School – Anita Saakyan. Anita has taken Introduction to Engineering Design and Cyber Security at the CTE Academy and she aspires to pursue degrees in Engineering and Computers post-high school. Anita wrote, “I will use my CTE experience to improve the world I live in.” It is abundantly clear to us that…..Anita has a passion for learning and for bettering humankind. Her teacher, Mr. Brockmueller said, “Anita is inquisitive and loves learning. Her charisma brings her classmates together during class-time collaboration.” Anita, your future in cyber engineering looks very promising, but it's your unwavering commitment to learning and compassion for others that truly sets you apart. Congratulations! You are a deserving winner of CTE’s “See the Vision” award.
